With South Africa’s very appropriately
named “Rainbow Nation” developing equally, in hesitant
unison since 1994, the country is uniquely positioned to provide
those seeking practical insight into our emerging, multi cultural,
and linguistic background, an experience that is as varied as it
is interesting.
From the original inhabitants of this tip of Africa, the Khoi peoples,
through the influence of the various European explorers and settlers,
with the impact of slavery, and the birth of an indigenous cultural
grouping – the Cape Coloured – to the impact of migratory
African tribes, South Africa is a melting pot of fascinating cultures
like no other.
With it’s peoples as a foundation, and the inter weaving of
developing historical, and political events, both worldwide and
locally, the “story” is all the more unique for striving
towards it’s own particular brand of self identity, and multi
cultural harmony.
Vibrancy, wariness, entrepreneurial spirit, despair, success, tolerance,
bigotry, optimism, pessimism, challenges, improvisation, prejudice,
hope, enthusiasm, are merely some of the qualities that are currently
present in South Africa’s society.
Nowhere are these more evident than through it’s peoples,
so for those who may be interested in a realistic human experience,
a specifically designed schedule can be put together that will provide
a practical over view of current thoughts, opinions, developments,
and trends. Given the nature of this subject we prefer to present
it realistically, and avoid the often well intentioned, but shallow
“tourist type exposure” to things “cultural”.
Whilst this concept has in the past been aimed at visiting Academic,
Alumni type groups, and individuals, we believe there is a far wider
window of opportunity out there amongst like minded people who also
share a similar interest in the peaceful transition of an African
country.
It is not all serious either, there is a fair element of FUN
and ENJOYMENT, all provided by South Africa’s
naturally friendly PEOPLE!
